I crocheted this shawl with the beautiful linen yarn from Katia; Lino Soft. I had never crocheted with linen yarn, and the first thing I noticed was the stiffness of this yarn. At first I thought ‘will this feel nice as a scarf around my neck?’ Well, that’s for sure! During the crocheting process it became more flexible and the end result was great! Really a shawl for the spring / summer!

Repeat row 9 t.m. row 12, only every row that your shawl gets bigger, you will have to repeat more.

Row 13: Crochet as row 9, only you have to repeat more.
Row 14. Crochet as row 10, only you have to repeat more.
Row 15. Crochet as row 11, only you have to repeat more.
Row 16. Crochet as row 12, only you have to repeat more.

I repeated this pattern until I had 19 patterns (with the ‘9 holes’) I crocheted the 20th pattern until the ’round 9 repetition’: with the 3 ‘five chain bows’.

The edge.

After your last round to create your ‘basic shawl’, start with the brim just by continuing to crochet, only then go around the corner, down towards the point.

Round 1. *5 Chain and skip 1 row, work 1 Single Crochet *
Repeat from * – * until you reach the tip at the bottom of the shawl, work 5 Chain and in the same spot work 1 Single Crochet,
Repeat from * – * until you are on the other side at the top of your shawl. There you crochet 5 Double Crochet in every ‘5 Chain loop’, on the ‘normal stitches’ crochet 1 Double Crochet, repeat until you are on the other side of your shawl.

Round 2. *Work 5 Chain, work 1 Single Crochet around the next 5 Chain* Repeat from * – * until you have worked all around.
Work 1 Slip Stitch in the next stitch.
Fasten off.
